i got a new toy!!!! can’t wait to start playing live with it…..
This is the same washing machine as in the video uploaded by steeeven1. (He’s my brother, he had the machine and is good with the components, I’m good at the programming, so we sort of came together to make this (the machine is still really his though)). This is a video I made showing a sort of behind-the-scenes view of it, and more information on it (Also doesn’t blur on the close-ups of the program…) NOTE: When I typed the Hz of the pulses near the end, they are actually 10x slower than I typed. >_< Eg 6400 bytes/sec baud rate = around 640 Hz. My crapness. Enjoy~!

The Ultimate Wall-E robot toy debuted at Maker Faire 2008 on May 3-4 at the San Mateo Fairgrounds. In the video, Wall-E first moves around looking for people to talk to. Then he plays some music and dances. Finally (in the dark portion of the video), he calls out for his friend Eva when he sees someone wearing a white shirt. From Disney’s press release: “Ultimate WALL·E features 10 motors, giving it a high level of movement and animation. The remote control makes it easy for kids to program WALL·E’s movements. An innovative touch programming system lets kids direct WALL·E simply by making patterns on the remote’s touch pad. With voice activation and a follow-me mode, WALL·E can follow the sound of a human voice and detect someone entering a room. He also has several emotional states and an easy system for programming thousands of combinations of movements with the remote. Numerous sensors allow him to detect and respond to his environment, including infrared sensors that allow him to detect obstacles and steer around them, sonic ears that detect sound direction, and touch sensors. Also MP3 compatible and features built-in speakers.” It’ll be available in late September for about 9.99. For more geek entertainment goodness: www.greatwhitesnark.com

Lecture 9 by Julie Zelenski for the Programming Abstractions Course (CS106B) in the Stanford Computer Science Department. Julie goes over recursion and the proper ways to solve problems recursively. She continues with the example of a program that draws a fractal image and explains a Mandarin code to illustrate the different possibilities of drawing different pictures. She then discusses the problem of moving a stack of disks from one peg to the other peg. Later, she demonstrates the basic principle necessary to solve the problem with a child’s toy and goes through how to solve the problem with a program. source : NuffffRespect “How The Media Control Your Mind?” Predictive programming comes in many forms and many degrees of subtlety. If you have never looked into this subject, you wouldnt even notice how often predictive programming is used in fictional dramas. But when you know how to recognise the signs, you realise that the mainstream media is infested with it. As Alan Watt has said many times: All fiction is propaganda., and that is so true. When you watch your favorite TV cop drama, you probably assume that it is produced solely for the purpose of providing drama and entertainment for your viewing pleasure. And that is true to an extent. But theres another side to it that most people rarely think about. And thats the fact that these types of programmes are also used as a way of conditioning our minds to accept certain ways of thinking about things. When we see a character in the drama react in a certain way to hearing news of a certain thing, we will then be far more likely to react in a similar way. Even though you know you have your own mind, and you know that you are an individual who is free to think any way you choose, there is no getting away from the fact that you will be influenced by the way other people react to things. Weve done it since the day we were born. For example, lets say youre watching your favorite soap opera and one of the characters gets the wrong end of the stick and comes up with some crazy idea about how their partner is cheating on them …
